BAMBUDDHA IBIZA: WHERE DINNER BECOMES A RITUAL
There are certain places in Ibiza that feel less like destinations and more like part of the islandâs mythology. Bambuddha is undoubtedly one of them. Returning as the island awakens for a new season, it is impossible not to be swept up in the anticipation: the warm evenings, the promise of long dinners and the unmistakable feeling that the night might take you somewhere entirely unexpected.
Our evening began with an especially memorable encounter. We happened to meet the legendary John Moon, who founded Bambuddha in 1999 and whose vision created the extraordinary world that still exists today. Chatting with John was a genuine pleasure, there is an unmistakable authenticity and warmth about him, and hearing his stories and perspective gives you a much deeper appreciation of the place. Bambuddha is clearly not simply a restaurant he created; it is an extension of his travels, philosophy and wonderfully unconventional way of seeing the world.
That spirit is still very much alive under the direction of his son, Jonjon Moon, who has carried Bambuddha into a new chapter without losing the individuality that made it famous. In an age when so many destinations are constantly reinventing themselves, Bambuddha has managed to evolve while remaining unmistakably itself.
